Operating margin: what is it – Dictionary of Economics

Ratio that indicates the percentage of profit before interest and taxes (BAII) over total sales. Unlike the gross margin, it takes into account all operating costs, including depreciation (although it also excludes financial expenses). See EBITDA (earnings before interest and taxes) and GROSS MARGIN.
