The doctor, named Nadiya Popel, tells the local newspaper that her intention is not “to create controversy, or criticize, or confront anyone, but I think it is necessary to give people information so that they reflect and decide.”
Two admissions and 19 patients from the teaching group
Popel, a Spaniard of Ukrainian origin and a hospital worker for more than 15 years, points out that over the last month of those 19 people inoculated with the Anglo-Swedish serum who have gone through the emergency room, two ended up admitted. They were all teaching staff of different profiles between 23 and 62 years old; 14 women and 5 men.
Of the two people who have required admission, one has manifested suspicions of meningoencephalitis. The other was admitted due to severe headache and leg pain that required a neurological study.
Popel says that he has informed the hospital authorities, but that in his opinion the administration of the vaccine should be stopped. “Maybe we should look at healthier ways to get by.”
“I understand that we all want to find a way out of this difficult situation, but we have to ask ourselves at what price and if there are no better options than this,” he argues.
