Bugatti Veyron, the fastest car in the world… for a short time

The Bugatti Veyron has a 16-cylinder engine, 8-liter displacement and 1,001 horsepower. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 407 kilometers per hour. It has an approved average consumption of 16.2 liters of 100-octane gasoline per hundred kilometers.

If we found a long enough straight line and reached top speed, consumption would rise to figures above 80 liters per hundred. The Veyron’s fuel tank, with a capacity of 100 liters, would give us a range of approximately 12 minutes, during which we could travel a maximum of a hundred kilometers.

The Bugatti Veyron was considered to be the car with the highest top speed in the world until a few months ago, since it managed to reach 435 km/h and thus exceed the 415 km/h that the Veyron achieved in 2010. However, Bugatti’s supercar is still the fastest to accelerate from rest, needing just 2.5 seconds to reach 100 km/h compared to 2.7 for the Hennessey.
