Carmena’s heritage: she has two chalets in a luxurious neighborhood of Madrid and farms in Segovia

“The most important thing is housing.” That has been one of the most repeated phrases by the new mayoress of Madrid, Manuela Carmena, both during the electoral campaign and after her inauguration. The leader of Ahora Madrid, who has put the investment funds that bought social housing in the spotlight and who has made the stoppage of evictions, the main flag of her policy, enjoys a more than comfortable heritage .

According to the data that appears in the Property Registry, Manuela Carmena owns one hundred percent of a single-family home in Parque Conde de Orgaz, one of the most luxurious neighborhoods in Madrid, to the northeast of the city and next to Calle Arturo Soria; and she owns 33.3% of another similar one, which is located right next door and which she shares with the lawyer and politician Cristina Almeida.

All this, in addition to two farms in the Segovian town of El Espinar. One of 2,835 square meters and another of another 993 meters, which also has a building. These are properties that, according to the estimates of experts and real estate agents consulted by elEconomista, could reach a joint value of close to 1.2 million euros.

the dwellings

The house that Carmena uses, with very similar characteristics to the one she shares with Almeida, has a constructed area of 141 square meters, in addition to a plot of land of another 117 meters that occupies a garden.

The house has three floors (a semi-basement, a ground floor and a first floor of 47 square meters each) and there is no mortgage charge. It does appear, however, a mortgage in favor of Caja Madrid (the current Bankia) of 84,141 euros, constituted in March 1992.

In the Property Registry, however, there is no property in the name of Carmena’s husband, the architect Eduardo Leira, who was the director of the General Plan for Urban Planning of Madrid (PGOUM) in 1985, with the socialist Juan Barranco in Mayor’s office.

Leira has faced several embargo processes in recent years, some of them being executed, and former employees of her company, the architecture studio I 3 Consultores, which is in bankruptcy, have denounced that the couple could have committed an alleged crime of seizure of property.

While still a candidate for Mayor of Madrid for Now, Carmena announced, however, that she had sued these former employees of her husband who accused her of misappropriation of assets and regretted the use of “gross lies” to discredit her in a case already filed .

Complaint

Specifically, the mayoress of Madrid filed the complaint, which she signs with her husband, after three former workers from her husband’s architecture studio assured a digital medium that they were hired as “false self-employed workers”, who did not get paid for a year and, when the courts agreed with them, the person in charge of the study transferred all his assets to politics and declared himself insolvent.

Manuela Carmena already insisted then that there is a ruling that supports her husband’s actions and stated that she knows that to govern you have to be “tough and brave”. Faced with these statements, the lawyer Emilio Rodríguez Menéndez has filed several complaints, among other things also for the uprising of assets, against the mayor. The first of them has already been archived, although the lawyer has appealed.
