Prefabricated houses are not, in principle, cheaper than those of traditional construction. However, the sector offers a wide range of small properties that are a quick and cheap option to inhabit a disused farm or a piece of land in the town. Thus, below you have cheap alternatives offered by the national market.
1. Liten, the prefabricated house that comes out of the Juan Roig Shuttle

The Madrid-based architecture studio Delavegacanolasso and Ricardo de Zulueta, a strategic consultant in New York, have launched the Tiny Home project: small prefabricated houses to return to the countryside, which offers a 32-square-meter prefabricated shelter for weekend getaways for €28,000.
This house includes a full bathroom, kitchen, integrated pine wood furniture, integrated LED lighting, plugs, switches and sockets. In addition, it has a 1000 liter water tank, a battery installation and a 2000 liter septic tank. Thus, these models are totally self-sufficient, but the company gives the option of connecting to the water, electricity and sanitation of the plot where it is going to be installed. What it does not include is a mattress, cushions, seats or other additional decorative elements.
These prefabricated houses are completely built in factories and the client receives it by truck completely made in an average period of 2 months from the moment of purchase. They can be placed on any plot, either as a home or as an auxiliary building to an existing home. And if the chosen option is self-sufficient, it will be necessary to install the buried septic tank, the solar panels and the water tank, which will take about 2-3 days. The possible movement of land or placing a floor below would not be included in the price.
3. The ‘shelter for the weekend’ by the Ágora Arquitectura studio
This small 40 m2 prefabricated house, as its name suggests, is designed to serve as a refuge for a weekend getaway. On sale for 30,000 euros, it can be installed in any rural environment, as it is transported by truck.
The refuge has three differentiated zones. In the front part there is the living room and the kitchen that open to the outside thanks to sliding glass doors. The back, with two sleeping spaces and one for storage, is the most intimate area of the house. And, in the middle part, there is an intern service bar, providing the whole with the comfort of some adjacent bungalows.
Facing south, the house’s three large sliding windows combine low-emission double glazing, so that heat loss is reduced in winter and shade is generated in summer thanks to a solar control system that uses simple roller blinds.
4. Modular Home: ‘MH 40’ prefabricated house

This proposal from the company based in Castilla y León has a total area of 31.69 m2. It has dimensions of 7.60 meters x 4.17 meters. Its price is around 40,000 euros.
7. Daype: wooden house of 90 square meters, for 49,990 euros
The most socially accepted idea that exists of prefabricated houses are wooden models, closely related to the world of camping. However, this type of natural alternative has also evolved a lot, as have the concrete options of industrialized construction.
Thus, the Manchego company Daype is specialized in wooden houses and defends that they are the most suitable for living in a natural and different environment. “The people who live in these homes manage to feel more comfortable than in conventional homes, because economic, ecological and biological advantages are achieved,” explains the company. An interesting option in its catalog is the ‘Marta’ option, 93 square meters.
8. Village C5, the mini prefabricated house by Home Center
The Catalan company Homer Center has specialized since 2009 in the sale of prefabricated houses made of wood and concrete. Thus, you can find a wide catalog of models. In the small field, the Village C5 option stands out, which is sold for 26,000 euros. It is a 27-square-meter house with two bedrooms, a bathroom and a multipurpose area, with a kitchen, dining room and living room.
9. Alucasa mobile prefabricated houses

Alucasa is a company from Alicante that, since 1977, has been dedicated to the manufacture of mobile homes, bungalows and prefabricated houses. 10. The ÁPH80 prefabricated house
This house is a personal project of the architect Camino Alonso, one of the founders of the Madrid-based Ábaton architecture studio, who wanted to create small, portable, prefabricated houses, but did not want them to resemble a shipping container. Thus, the architect, together with her husband and her brothers (also architects in her firm), created ÁPH80, a small house that is sent as a piece of furniture, but has the style and usability of a smartphone.
The prototype presented by the study in 2018 was manufactured in six weeks in a CNC (computer numerical control) warehouse in the north of Spain, it is 27 meters long and up to 3.5 meters high. Its original distribution contemplates kitchen-living room, bathroom (with full shower) and bedroom (bed included), but the model allows other configurations such as placing an additional bedroom in its backyard. Its launch price was 42,800 euros.
