Castilla y León orders a curfew at eight in the afternoon that the Government considers outlawed

The Junta de Castilla y León has decided to advance the curfew to 8:00 p.m., a measure that comes into force tomorrow Saturday and that the Government Delegation does not see as possible since it exceeds the limits established in the State of Alarm.

In addition, the regional Executive confines all provinces to the perimeter and limits home meetings to four people as measures to try to alleviate the level of infections of this third wave of Covid-19 that has led to a situation of “extreme gravity”.

This has been announced by the Vice President of the Board, Francisco Igea, who has detailed the measures agreed after informing the different parliamentary groups and the mayors and presidents of the council of his decision on Thursday afternoon in order to standardize all the actions and count on their collaboration in the implementation of the same.

However, the Ministry of Health assures that “there is no possibility” of restricting free movement at night after 8:00 p.m., since this possibility is not contemplated within the framework of the current state of alarm decree, which does include the curfew between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., with the possibility of starting it an hour earlier or later.

In the same way, from the Government Delegation it was recalled that article 10 of the royal decree of the state of alarm establishes the obligation to communicate “in advance” to the Ministry of Health the measures dictated by the president of each Community as a delegated authority.

Despite this, the Board maintains its plans and adheres to article 10 of the Royal Decree of November 3 that extends the State of Alarm, in addition to the fact that the Autonomous Government ensures that if the Ministry of Health has been informed before this measure comes into effect.

Specifically, it is article 5 that regulates the limitation of the freedom of movement of people at night.

Likewise, from the regional government it has been ensured that the Ministry of Health has been informed and communicated before its entry into force of the measures that have been agreed this Friday, which involve advancing the curfew to 8:00 p.m. and reducing meetings to four people, as well as limiting the capacity in places of worship to a third.

These new restrictions are added to those that were already implemented in the extraordinary Government Council held last Tuesday and that go through the closure of gyms, shopping centers and betting rooms, in addition to the perimeter closure of the Community.
