Catalonia launches tourist vouchers to reactivate the sector with the local public

Starting on March 1, the Generalitat de Catalunya will activate a tourist voucher campaign that will allow Catalans to book package tours in the region with a 50% discount up to a maximum of 150 euros.

The campaign will also be in force in April until the budget of 1.5 million euros is exhausted, and excluding Easter (from April 9 to 18).

In this way, Catalonia will join an initiative that they began to apply months ago as a support measure for one of the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic. In fact, the Generalitat announced its own campaign at the end of September with the intention of carrying it out in the months before Christmas, but it was not activated in the end.

Those interested in benefiting from the Catalan tourist vouchers must register on the estalviatge.cat platform and make a reservation for a combined trip at a member travel agency -at the moment there are about 250-.

Trips that include an overnight stay in a Catalan tourist accommodation associated with at least one of the following types of travel services may be eligible for assistance: passenger transport, rental of cars or other motor vehicles, and other tourist services such as , for example, activities, guided excursions or tickets to museums or concerts.

The Generalitat expects to activate at least 10,000 reserves with this initiative, much more modest than the one launched by the :

Reservations to contract discounted trips in Catalonia may begin to be made on February 28, taking into account that the reservation must be made within a maximum period of five calendar days from the receipt of the promotional code after registering at estalviatge.cat, as reported by the Generalitat on Friday.
