Chimi Hogar: get inspired by its history and get to know its online store

Gabriela Minatti is a Master in Strategic Marketing and since 2013 is in charge of , an online store with a special focus on decoration.

Chimi comes from the abbreviation of the famous Argentine sauce “chimichurri” since their main motivation is to “spice up homes”.

What is Chimi Home?

Chimi is a decoration and gift brand. I believe that everything can be seasoned with Chimi’s imprint, strongly inspired by the language of graphic design, animals and nature (yes, I’m a big fan of plants! I live in a 2 room apartment with 35 species).

What distinguishes your brand from other decoration brands?

First of all it is key learn to see beyond the current trend in the field of your business.

In my case, Chimi Hogar started as a brand of deco objects, and then began to diversify and innovate in other areas: today we even make backpacks and stationery items!

I think that the ability to reinvent ourselves and decode the customerUnderstanding that someone not only buys a physical and tangible product, but the entire associated symbolic universe, makes us make a difference.

As for wholesale, understanding the needs is key: respect the suggested prices, that is, do not sell cheaper than businesses that sell your same products, provide financing and try to create a link is super important. When you achieve that, they don’t change you that easily for another brand that is a competitor.

How did the idea of ​​creating your own online store come about?

A few months after creating my brand, I also created my Nube store, because I didn’t even have a website and I wanted to have a site so that customers could see the products and buy, obviously. I currently have two Cloud stores, one specifically for catalogs for wholesale customers, and another where we sell retail to the general public.

Offline, I participate in the major fairs in the sector, such as Presentes or Cafira to attract wholesale customers and Puro Diseño for retail.

How did the workshops for entrepreneurs?

We started the workshops approximately 4 years ago together with Belén de what monono, a friendly brand. We are both professors at the University of Buenos Aires in Marketing subjects.

We realized that there was nothing similar in the gift and decoration market, that we could put together an intensive talk with a theoretical descent and a practical part..

But mainly we wanted it to be a talk in which we told our experience and tactics to achieve a successful start-up.since Chimi Hogar and Que Monono started without investment and today sell in more than 100 stores throughout the country.

It seems important to me when it comes to training to try to find people who not only live by giving courses, but who have a real entrepreneurship of physical products, have theoretical training in what they give and who are the closest thing to what we as entrepreneurs we do or want to do, because it can transmit to you what I call “subtle information”, that which is not in a book and is given to you by experience.

How do you select the topics that you are going to give in the workshops?

We believe that for brands that are just starting out or those that cannot make a living from their entrepreneurship, it can come in handy because we address issues about which several entrepreneurs often have many doubts. For example, how to set a price (wholesale and retail) to how to make an effective promotion without spending a fortune.

We also cover topics on how to seek differentiation in a product line, how to start or expand, marketing channels (to sell wholesale and retail), among many others.

These are issues that we would have liked to know before starting our own businesses to avoid mistakes. We try to create the space to answer those questions that one always wants to know and are not politically correct such as: how much can you earn? How much did a fair stand cost you? What costs does your business have?

If you had to give one piece of advice to another entrepreneur, what would it be?

Cheer up, take risks, train, delegate.

Try to make things as professional as possible; the brands that manage to transcend time are the ones that achieved a brand identity.

Train yourself to sell online because the future is here, whether or not you have a physical location, online sales are here to stay and are growing stronger and stronger.
