China gets a slice of the energy crisis in Europe: this is how the sale of heating appliances is skyrocketing

In the latest economic crises, China has shown great ability to get out, at least, gracefully from a large part of the economic ills that affect the world. In 2008 it was one of the only countries that did not fall into recession; in the 2020 pandemic and crisis (covid); And now that the energy crisis is coming in Europe, some Chinese companies are doing their own ‘August’. Although the economy of the ‘Asian giant’ is going through its particular slowdown due to the collapse of its real estate market, Beijing could also escape the recession that is coming in advanced countries this time.

China is boosting the sale of devices related to heating and ‘coat’, especially those that are adjustable and more efficient in energy savings, something that could be very necessary for European consumers this winter.

The export of heating appliances and devices from China to the EU has grown strongly in recent months due to the energy crisis affecting several European countries due to the war in Ukraine, the official People’s Daily newspaper reports today.

According to data from the China Home Appliances Association, the Asian country has registered notable increases in its foreign sales of air conditioners, hair dryers and other electrical devices such as boilers, heaters and blankets.

The most popular sales

Specifically, the export of electric blankets -very popular in China- practically doubled (+97%) its volume between January and July compared to the data for the same period of the previous year, according to the Efe agency.

For its part, Chinese air heat pumps sold 71% more in Spain, 198% more in Italy, 373% more in Poland and 614% more in Bulgaria during the first half of the year.

The employers’ association pointed out that the products that are experiencing strong sales increases abroad are those with temperature adjustment functions, which would reflect that European consumers are preparing for the coming winter.

The People’s Daily, the official organ of the Communist Party of China (CPC), assures that the energy crisis in Europe is “worsening” and that it is already taking its toll on “industries and livelihoods” due to the significant increases in electricity prices or natural gas.
