Who said it wasn’t possible? the truth is that it always has been, and although it may not seem like it, this change is made more times than you imagine.
If you have an online store with WooCoomerce or an Internet academy with an e-Learning plugin, surely many times you receive requests from clients or students asking you to tell them what the username is because they don’t remember it, or they simply ask for the change to another “username”.
At this point, do not forget that you must always confirm the identity of the person requesting said change, in compliance with the LOPD and RGPD and also “by common sense” it is not going to be an angry partner or a malicious user in search of credentials to take control of the website.
In the end, whichever method you choose, it is also important that you make a backup from the site, or at least from the database, before applying changes to database records just in case!
