How to get the reference number to access the 2021-2022 Income draft

There is less than a month left for the start of the 2021-2022 Income Campaign and taxpayers who are going to settle their accounts regarding IRPF (Personal Income Tax) must be prepared and know how they can get their draft. One of the ways is through the reference number, which is already available to citizens.

The Tax Agency has explained that the reference number for Income 2021-2022 can be obtained as in the previous year, through box 505 of last year’s declaration. The body has insisted that, despite this, said reference number will be different from last year’s, so a new one must be obtained.

The reference number is one of the three methods of accessing the draft, together with the digital certificate () and Cl@ve (). According to the Treasury, the reference number is an “authentication and identification system for natural persons, which will allow you to carry out certain procedures and procedures, fundamentally for the Income campaign.”

There are two ways to obtain the reference number: through the Tax Agency’s mobile application and on the agency’s website. Hacienda recommends doing it in the app because “it will allow you to access it throughout the entire campaign as well as take advantage of easier access to the most used services.” However, the most common method is the second, through the website of the Tax Agency.

To obtain the reference number on the Tax Agency website, it is necessary to enter (it is accessed from the Income 2021 section, in ‘Outstanding procedures’ and then in ‘Obtain the reference number’), in which the citizen You must enter your DNI or NIE (numbers and letters), as well as its expiration date. In any case, when you have the information filled in, you must click on ‘Continue’. The user will reach another page where they must click on ‘Get reference with 505 box’ or ‘Get reference’ to continue with the process.

The system will take you to a new page where, if the taxpayer made the declaration for the previous year, they will receive the indication to enter the data from box 505 of the 2020-2021 Campaign, which is that of the general taxable base subject to assessment. If the taxpayer did not file the 2020 Income Tax return (or the amount in box 505 would have been 0.00), the last five digits of the IBAN of their bank account will be requested. After having entered it, you have to click on ‘Get reference’.

The Tax Agency explains that, however, the taxpayer can request a new reference number up to 10 times a day. Every time you request a new number, the previous one that has been obtained will be revoked, so that only the last one obtained is valid to carry out the Income procedures.
