If you have ever tried to close your account on a social network, you will know that platforms do not usually make it easy for you and finding such an option can be quite an odyssey. Don’t worry, today we show you step by step how to unsubscribe from the main .
You should know that some platforms like Facebook, Instagram or YouTube give you the possibility to temporarily deactivate/hide your account. This option allows you to take a break and recover your account whenever you want, but it does not permanently delete your account.
If you do not want to lose all the content you have published such as photos and videos, before starting the process of unsubscribing from social networks, remember download a copy of your information.
Facebook offers the possibility to unsubscribe through the web and the app.
In the web:
- click on Bill (triangle icon in the upper right corner)
- Choose Settings and privacy < Settings
- click on Your Facebook information in the left sidebar
- click on Deactivation and removal
- Choose Permanently delete account and click on Continue with account deletion
- If you haven’t already done so, now you can download your information and Facebook posts
- click on Delete account, enter your password and click continue
In the app:
- Go to the menu tab (icon in the upper right corner)
- Click on Settings and privacy < Settings
- In the section Your Facebook informationclick on Account ownership and control Deactivation and deletion
- Choose delete account and press Go to account deletion
- Continue with account deletion < Delete account
From this moment You will have 30 days to cancel the closure of your account. To cancel this process you must log in to it before the 30 days are up.
Complete removal of your profile and all posted content can take up to 90 daysperiod during which no one will be able to access said information.
Note that by deleting your Facebook account you will no longer be able to use Messenger.
Instagram, unlike Facebook, does not give the possibility to close the account directly from the app.
- Open in a browser from a computer or mobile
- Log in if you haven’t already
- Select a reason to delete your account
- Enter your password and click Delete account permanently
To unsubscribe from Twitter, you can do it on the web or through the app. Follow these steps:
- On the web, go to the left sidebar and click More options < Settings and privacy
- In the app, pPress on the menu (upper left corner) and go to Settings and privacy
- go to Account < Deactivate your account
- Read the information and click Deactivate
- Enter your password and click Deactivate
LinkedIn also allows you to unsubscribe both through its website and its app. These are the steps to follow:
- On the web, click the profile picture < Settings and privacy
- In the app, tap on the profile picture < View profile < Settings (gear icon in the upper right corner)
- In the Account tab, Choose Close your LinkedIn account, at the end of the page
- Select the closing reason and click Following
- Enter your password and click Close account
You can also close your account directly on the page.
If you regret it and want to cancel the closure of your account, you have less than 20 days after the request. Keep in mind that in any case you will have lost all your validations and recommendations, invitations, following and groups.
Youtube
YouTube also does not allow you to delete channels from mobile devices so you must do it from a computer or by using the View as computer function in your mobile browser.
- Click on the your profile icon in the upper right corner
- In the dropdown menu, click Setting
- go to Advanced configuration > delete channel
- Enter your password
- Choose I want to permanently delete my content
- tick all the boxes to show your agreement
- click on Delete my channel/content
All videos, comments, messages, playlists, and history on your channel will be permanently gone, but you’ll still keep your Google account.
TikTok
If you wish to unsubscribe from , you must do so through the app since it does not provide the possibility of doing it through the web. To delete your account follow these steps:
- Go to the your profile tab
- Click on Settings (the three dots in the upper right corner)
- Choose manage account
- Press Delete account
- Enter your password
- Click again on Delete account
Your account will show as deactivated for 30 days, after which it will be deleted. Contrary to other platforms, it is not a reversible process so you can’t get it back.
Keep in mind that even after unsubscribing from social networks, the search engines of Google, Bing or Yahoo! may continue to display information about your profile, activity, and posts temporarily.
