Lidl and Aldi launch new job offers: which of the two has better conditions and salary

Aldi and Lidl. Lidl and Aldi. The two supermarkets of German origin have been present in Spain for a long time, gaining more and more market share. Since their origin in Germany, both companies have focused on offering products at a reduced price. And then, over the years, they have continued to evolve in much the same way.

Both were pioneers in introducing organic, vegetarian and vegan products to their shelves, and even changed their store model towards For all this, it can be said that they are almost intrinsic competition.

Now they are also competing for new employees in Spain. Specifically, Lidl has up to 59 offers open to work in its stores and Aldi 68. And, although there is much talk about Mercadona, the two supermarkets of German origin have also improved their conditions a lot in recent years.

Lidl salary and conditions

Lidl renewed its collective agreement in Spain a few months ago, increasing wages and adding many advantages that until recently were unthinkable in a sector as competitive as distribution, such as the five-day work week.

The new collective agreement also updates the minimum wage, which is set at 8.85 euros/hour, 21% more than the interprofessional minimum wage (7.28 euros/hour, at the end of 2020).

In addition, the supermarket chain has made a commitment to the unions to maintain 75% permanent employment throughout the year.

Lidl pays its employees in 14 payments that can be prorated if desired, which leaves a minimum salary (in 12 payments) of 1,323 euros per month for cashiers, replenishers, and warehouse workers.
