Lidl beyond its ‘Thermomix’: this is its assortment of 350 gourmet products for Christmas

How many products make up the Lidl Deluxe range?

The Deluxe range is made up of an exclusive selection of more than 350 gourmet products to enjoy this Christmas, with the best value for money. Fresh products, prepared and frozen dishes, preserves, jams, pâtés, ice creams, nougats and shortbreads… a wide assortment designed to offer consumers everything they need to celebrate an authentic gourmet banquet.

Is it the same for all of Europe or does it change by country?

The Deluxe assortment is adapted depending on the country, taking into account its gastronomy, traditions and preferences. However, we maintain a firm commitment to bring excellent Spanish gastronomy closer to the rest of Europe.

Is it only sold at Christmas?

Products from the Deluxe range are on sale twice a year: before the arrival of Christmas and before the Easter celebration. The assortment is adapted according to the holidays.

When does it start selling? When it ends? When is the sales peak?

The Deluxe range goes on sale in November, with a view to the Christmas celebrations, and in March-April, for Easter. And it stays in supermarkets while supplies last. The peak in sales occurs during the first weeks of December, due to the preparations for Christmas.

What are the most successful products among your customers?

The Deluxe range is very well received in Lidl stores, due to various factors: the wide variety of gourmet products offered by this range, ideal for celebrations such as Christmas; and its excellent value for money.

Every year it is a success in sales and we manage to liquidate the stock. To give a specific case, some of the most demanded products are: IGP Jijona nougats (which are also a success in stores outside of Spain), smoked salmon in wooden boxes with the Ocean Sea seal, olives, PGI asparagus, grated truffle and candied oranges in dark chocolate.

What is the most expensive product in the Deluxe range?

The Deluxe range is already available in the more than 600 stores that Lidl has in Spain, at a price that ranges from 0.99 euros to 18.99 euros. The most expensive product is the 2kg box of frozen Southern Shrimp (1Kg = €9.50), which is sold for €18.99.

Do you have advice from a Spanish chef?

At present, we do not have the advice of any Spanish chef for our Deluxe range. However, we do carry out special collaborations with prestigious chefs. On the occasion of the presentation of the Deluxe 2020 range, chef Fernando Alcalá has prepared a Christmas menu worthy of the best restaurants with our Deluxe products.

What percentage of products are Spanish?

At Lidl we maintain a firm commitment to national suppliers and producers. For this reason, more than 70% of the current Deluxe assortment is made by small, medium and large Spanish suppliers. In addition, in the last 10 years, Lidl has exported Christmas products made in Spain for its brands worth more than 50 million euros to 30 countries and more than 10,000 stores in which it is present. Only in nougat, Lidl has exported more than 25 million tablets to the rest of the countries in which it operates in the last 10 years, thus bringing the products with the best quality-price ‘Made in Spain’ closer to the rest of Europe.

New this year

Scallop stuffed with crab

As for the novelties this year, the frozen scallops gratin with seafood, the scallop stuffed with crab, the tuna tataki, the chocolate coulant with raspberry or orange stand out in the frozen section.

In the fridge, the nougat flan, the cheese delicacies with red fruits and figs or the duck foie gras block stand out. Lastly, on the shelf, new products stand out such as Octopuses in olive oil, tomato and chilli chutney, yellow and red teardrop pepper and extra virgin olive oil with truffle, among others.
