Marco Sansavini, new president and CEO of Vueling

Marco Sansavini has been appointed as the new Chairman and CEO of Vueling, a company he has joined to replace Javier Sánchez Prieto (the new Chairman and CEO of Iberia).

This same Tuesday, the until now president and CEO of Iberia, Luis Gallego, has been elected CEO of IAG to replace Willie Walsh, after obtaining the approval of the group’s general meeting of shareholders.

This appointment, originally scheduled for March 26, was postponed along with the general meeting of shareholders as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Walsh has considered it “gratifying” that the internal succession plans “have paid off once again” with Prieto taking over from Gallego at the head of Iberia, as well as with Sansavini leading Vueling, and Walsh is convinced that “they are the right people to their new posts.”
