Masks in Madrid schools will no longer be mandatory starting tomorrow during recess

The Minister of Education of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Ossorio, assured this Wednesday that the use of masks in schools, during breaks, will no longer be mandatory as of tomorrow. He pointed out that the Ministry of Health will issue an order in this regard today.

After denouncing that the explanations given yesterday by the Minister of Health on this matter “did not clarify anything”, he said that he had to wait for its publication today in the BOE to know its real content. She said that, by eliminating the need for the use of the mask when there is no 1.5 meter distance between people and in mass events, it will no longer be mandatory in school breaks. Ossorio said that the regional government never agreed to make the use of masks mandatory at recess, although he respected the decision of the central Executive in this regard, because “there is no scientific evidence” to support it.

He explained that this rule will be applied in all educational centers in the region and said that he hopes that the aforementioned order of the Ministry of Health will be issued today so that it can be applied tomorrow. Asked if the abolition of the mandatory use of masks will also be done indoors, he said that it will take “some time” to make it possible. “We don’t have a date for that,” he added.
