Mercadona improves one of its most popular products to make it even healthier

One of the maxims that Juan Roig set for himself in the last Mercadona results account was “”. An objective for which the Valencian chain has already set to work, which has led it to include among these items that could be even better. From the Hacendado brand and with considerable success, these days they are even healthier thanks to their new recipe.

A source of fiber and energy, the date is one of the most established exotic fruits in Spain due to its properties. A product that Mercadona has been marketing under its own private label for some time, but which did not have all the quality that the Spanish company wants to give its consumers.

For this reason, pitted dates have changed their lot to be a much more accessible snack for customers, who already valued them as one of the most demanded items, as well as their ingredients have been modified. In this way, in addition to including a closure to improve conservation, they have lost up to three additions that made them less healthy when consumed.

Without oil, glucose or preservatives, the new Hacendado dates are more suitable to be used as a substitute for sugar, to snack between meals or to add to a salad due to their excellent flavor. A product that, in its format of 350 grams for 2.35 euros per container.

Who makes them?

Despite the change, the dates continue to arrive from Importaco Casa Pons. A company based in Beniparrel (Valencia) that acts as a supplier of nuts for Mercadona. Exclusively with these supermarkets since 2004, it stands out for providing products “according to consumer needs”.
