In the fifth class of the NLP course we are going to delve into the language metamodel to have better control of communication with others.
Surely on many occasions you have had conversations with others and they have not convinced you enough, either due to lack of clarity, excessive generalizations, or because it does not agree with what you think.
The first thing is to know what language and communication are. It may seem basic to you, but we encourage you to review the idea we have about language and you will see that even the most essential aspects require revision to provide us with resources.
Here you will be introduced to three very interesting language processes. Omissions, generalizations, and distortions. Do not miss it! They will mark a before and after in your learning of effective communication.
We will also fully encounter the three aspects that the language metamodel tool represents in communication, helping you to recognize and explain the way in which people use their verbal language to represent the world in which they live.
As the prefix “meta” says, which means going further, the language in NLP is worked at deeper levels. Let’s see them!
Exciting, right? We have reviewed concepts of language and it has reminded us how essential it is in our lives, giving us the possibility to communicate our ideas and feelings.
Actually, until we know the structure of language, we do not realize how many times very revealing issues escape us in communication with others.
Now that we have identified the three processes, we will be able to communicate with others in a more controlled way and rich in truthful content. But it is also difficult to pay attention and realize the three aspects mentioned, we have an example table for you. Surely the table at this point will have given you many ideas and clues to know how to ask the right questions with each aspect.
With this we already know the operation of each of the patterns; how they act, what they hide, what they reveal, to respond according to the world model of your interlocutor, and have a better communication and understanding of their reality.
The truth is that the linguistic expression of questions is a true art. Those who master the maieutics method, as Socrates did, know how to extract the core of information through questions.
