Pay with Apple Pay in WooCommerce – .com

For a few weeks now it has been possible to pay with Apple Pay in WooCommerce thanks to Stripe. Let’s see how to quickly configure it.

1. Install and configure Stripe

The first is the first: . How? Why? Aren’t we talking about Apple Pay? Yes effectively. But it turns out that Apple Pay uses Stripe to make payments.

Seriously I tell you: Stripe is a joy of system, and on top of that with a commission 2 points lower than PayPal. Do not think twice, install it now.

2. Set up Apple Pay in WooCommerce

Once you have Stripe working, we move on to the second phase. We go to WooCommerce / Settings / Stripe:

Once there, we are going to check that we have the option to pay with Apple Pay active, as well as the color of the button (white or black) and the location code (“es” for Spanish). That is, like this:

Well, with these two steps we already have our WooCommerce ready. But now we have to make the last adjustments in Stripe so that Apple recognizes the domain for us.

3. Set up Apple Pay in Stripe

The first thing will be to access Stripe, go to “Payments” and then to “Apple Pay”. You have it in the last option of the top menu.

On that screen we will have to accept Apple’s terms, which we are surely not going to read even as a joke, and we will have to trust what they tell us:

And then we must indicate the domains in which we are going to use Apple Pay. We click on the “Add new domain” button, and here we indicate the domain or domains that we will use:

To verify the domain in Apple Pay with Stripe in WooCommerce, we must follow 3 very simple steps:

  1. Write the domain in the first box
  2. Download verification file
  3. Upload the verification file to our domain, in the /.well-known/ directory

It is important to note that the file that we download is a bit “strange”, since it does not have an extension. It’s just a filename, no dot or anything. It can create a bit of confusion but that’s how it is.

And then we must go to the root of our website, and create the directory .well-known in which we will upload the file we just downloaded. Let’s notice that this directory has a starting point. It should be like this, otherwise it won’t work:

And now yes, we already have everything ready. Congratulations! Now you can charge with Apple Pay in your eCommerce 🙂
