Price of electricity today, February 22, by the hour: when is it cheaper and when is it more expensive to put appliances

After a difficult end of the 2021 academic year, in which the main energies were increased considerably, the beginning of 2022 has not brought better news and thus, gas, gasoline, butane or electricity continue to increase. As shown by the data from the (OMIE), the organization that manages the electricity markets of Spain and Portugal and collects their rates, the average price of electricity in Spain during this Tuesday, February 22, is 179.74 euros/ MWh. Very high figures when compared to the price set a year ago, when the MWh cost 45.26 euros.

Regarding the daily variation, marked by a price per kWh, according to data from , the cheapest sections are concentrated in the early hours and midday. Specifically, the lowest hour is between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. with a price of 0.20937 euros/kWh.

On the contrary, the hours closest to the end of the day present the highest costs, being between 20:00 and 21:00, the moment with a higher price (0.37404 euros/kWh).

Why does the price of electricity vary so much?
