Reaper Course #2. Configuration – .com

In the second lesson of the Reaper course we will see how to set the DAW settings through the properties.

And it is that despite being a very light application, Reaper allows us to configure those key details that in 90% of the occasions we must modify for our projects or those of our clients.

All these parameters that we will establish will be the default values depending on our objectives and the use that we are going to give it. Let’s go for it!

You see it! With this control panel we can configure everything related to the hardware such as the selection of the sound card, its inputs and outputs, the MIDI controllers and the preferences for formats and settings that will allow us to optimize our workflow.

As homework, I suggest you make the following adjustments:

  • Select your audio device.
  • Set the sample rate according to your goals
  • Review the “Recording” and “Loop Recording” section and adjust it according to your interests.
  • Enable your controller from the “MIDI Device” section
  • Review and configure the appearance of Reaper to your liking.
  • Review the rest of the sections in case you need to modify something in the future.

On the other hand, we can individually configure each new session that we open in Reaper from “Project Settings”. These adjustments will allow us to adapt the format of the audio that we record, modify the Buffer according to our workflow and select between one resolution or another among many other things.

And we already have it! With this we will have the basic configuration of our DAW. As you can see, Reaper has adapted 100% to the needs of music producers and audio content creators, resembling its console to that of its competitors.
