In his text, which occupies one page, he thanked Rubalcaba for the work carried out throughout his political life: “You embody what the PSOE has represented and represents for our country”, Sánchez wrote.

Specifically, the socialist leader thanked Rubalcaba for his fight for the freedom and security of the Spaniards, his commitment to social justice and, especially, to real equal opportunities between men and women.

“You embody what the Socialist Party represents for Spain: love and loyalty to Spain; commitment to the socialist cause,” he stressed.

In the final paragraph, Sánchez quotes Manuel Azaña who wrote that politics is to carry out. “You have given your life to this task of ‘doing’ with intelligence, dedication and passion. We owe you a lot, everything… always. Thank you,” Sánchez concludes in his text.

Sánchez has gone to the socialist headquarters this morning. He has not made any statements but he has greeted all the people who at that time were waiting to sign the condolence book. The Ferraz headquarters closed at 2:00 p.m.
