Taco Bell seeks franchisees in Spain to open 200 stores in ten years

The Mexican restaurant company Taco Bell opens up to franchising to continue its expansion in Spain, where it has just turned a decade old and plans to go from the current 52 stores to 250 in the next ten years.

This was explained today by company sources to Efe, who have detailed that the search is focused on “multi-franchise investors with experience in catering or distribution.”

The Taco Bell brand is owned by Yum Brands and in Spain it is managed under a master franchise regime by Casual Brands Group (CBG), which also operates the Delina’s and Juan Valdez Café chains.

Spain is the first European country where the Mexican food banner was introduced, and in this period it has served an average of 1.5 million tacos a year, the company reported today in a statement.

The firm closed 2018 with its turnover of around 33 million euros in Spain, 7% more than a year earlier in comparable data -that is, without including openings-.

Outside the US, Taco Bell currently has 425 restaurants spread across 27 countries, and this figure is expected to exceed a thousand by 2022.
