The economy of the Community of Madrid is already growing three times the national average

The economy of the Community of Madrid leads practically all the economic rankings of the country. According to data from the Regional Ministry of Economy, Madrid has grown, this first quarter, by 0.8% of GDP, practically triple the national average, whose figure is 0.3%.

In terms of GDP, the Community of Madrid, chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso (yesterday in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz), has also recovered 98.2% of the Gross Domestic Product, which it had before the pandemic, 1.6 % more GDP than the rest of the country, which still moves at 96.6%. This implies, therefore, a quantified difference of 16,000 million euros more.

The Minister of Economy, Javier Fernández Lasquetty -accompanied in the balance of the quarter by Manuel Llamas and Juan Manuel López Zafra, Deputy Minister of Economy and General Director of Economy, respectively, spoke on Tuesday about these data, highlighting that Madrid, like other regions And like the rest of Spain, it has also endured the economic ups and downs of the invasion of Ukraine, but its , birth aid or legislation that pursues without barriers have placed this community above the rest.

The economic engine

The Community of Madrid is today -as reflected in the Regional Accounts-, “the great economic engine of Spain”, contributing up to 19.3% of GDP, which is reflected, among other variables, in the creation of companies: more of 6,400 new companies in the first quarter of the year.

In itself, it is 22.6% of the national total and almost 40% of the subscribed capital. And in terms of foreign investment received, the Community of Madrid accumulates 72.8% of the average for Spain, bringing together almost 21,000 million euros in 2021. After Madrid, and at a distance, are Catalonia (10.3%) or the Basque Country (5.3%).

Within Services, which represents 84% ​​of Madrid’s Gross Value Added –GVA–, the upward variation of 9% more than those related to distribution and hospitality stands out. With regard to the analysis of demand, growth in the last year has been accentuated both internally and externally, with 3.4% more and 34.4% more, respectively.

Balance of all councils
