The Madrid Edition celebrates Mexico’s Independence Day

Every September 16, Mexico dresses up as a party to remember the early morning of the same date in the year 1810. The moment in which the country’s independence began with a call to arms by the priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in the town de Dolores with the imposing “Cry of Independence”: Long live America! and Death to bad government!

Located in the Plaza de las Descalzas and with an entrance through its baroque portico, the Jerónimo restaurant (led by the Mexican chef Enrique Olvera) offers a cuisine that is influenced by the authenticity and generosity of Mexican cuisine; as well as for the excellence of the local product.

That is why on Thursday, September 15 and Friday, September 16, the Jerónimo bar will dress up with mezcal and tequila tastings, as well as a cocktail menu among which the Piñata stands out, one of the most iconic elaborations of the restaurant, with Volcán tequila, Yellow Chartreuse, Campari Pineapple and Mandarin; accompanied by Margaritas made with tequila, mezcal and even sherry; micheladas and fresh waters.

On the weekend, the celebration is kept alive on Sunday, September 18, with a special brunch (from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) in which new dishes are incorporated, such as elote (fresh corn on the cob) pancakes, the classic Mexican concha , this time, filled with cream; a seafood “return to life”, the black mole tamale and a red pozole with Iberian pork.

All of them accompanied by classic members of Jerónimo’s breakfast menu, such as avocado toast and macha sauce, huevos rancheros and green and red chilaquiles with chicken. To toast, a typical Bandera (consisting of three shots of tequila, sangria and verdita) is added to the proposal.

Every moment and every occasion lived inside Jerónimo promises a unique experience, rooted in the Mexican culinary tradition and enjoyed at its best in the heart of Madrid. And what better time than the national holidays of Mexico to celebrate its wonderful gastronomy.
