Interference of light: what it is – Dictionary of Economics

It is based on the wave nature of light: light waves that are in phase reinforce each other. Those that are in contraphase cancel each other out. A well-known phenomenon using light interference is that of changing color effects. The phenomenon of light interference occurs in the optically variable inks of euro banknotes.
