This will be the calendar of the Spanish stock market in 2021: there will be five holidays

Bolsa y Mercados Españoles (), a company that operates the national equity, fixed income and derivatives markets, has announced the 2021 market calendar, which will have five festive days.

The will not be listed this Friday, January 1 (for New Year). Nor will it be on Good Friday and Easter Monday, which will fall on April 2 and 5, respectively.

We will have to wait from the fourth month of next year until the last to have holidays again in the national market, since it will not open on Friday, December 24 (Christmas Eve) or Friday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve).

Therefore, equities will function normally on holidays such as Tuesday, October 12 (National Holiday), Monday, November 1 (All Saints’ Day) or Monday, December 6 (Constitution Day).

Likewise, unlike other years, in 2021 there will be no day in which the market is partially trading (that is, only half a session). Therefore, only the aforementioned five days will be “non-business days for the purposes of operation”, reports BME.

Four holidays less than on Wall Street

The calendar announced by BME for the Spanish stock market thus includes four fewer festive sessions than for Wall Street next year.

Nor will the North American market trade on January 1, April 2 and December 24, although it will operate normally on Easter Monday and New Year’s Eve.

Instead, the New York Stock Exchange will be closed for a holiday on Monday, January 18 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), Monday, February 15 (Presidents’ Day), Monday, May 31 (Memorial Day). Day), Monday, July 5 (one day after Independence Day), Monday, September 6 (Labor Day), and Thursday, November 25 (Thanksgiving).
