Twitch, hacked: they leak the source code of the social network and how much the biggest streamers earn – Marketing 4 Ecommerce – Your online marketing magazine for e-commerce

In the midst of the scandals that sparked the declassification of the Pandora Papers and the recent leak of sensitive Facebook data, an anonymous user claimed the Twitch hack on 4Chan forumensuring to have absolute control over the social network. Thus, a published file larger than 125GB which includes filtering payments from dozens of streamers -among them, Ibai Llanos and Rubius-, passwords and the twitch source codeamong other reserved data.

At the moment, Twitch has only revealed that the information is real: “We can confirm that a leak has occurred. Our teams are working urgently to understand the scope of it. We will update the community as soon as we have additional information.”assured the Amazon-owned company on its Twitter account:

What Twitch data was leaked

In addition to the source code of Twitch.tv and its entire comment history since its inception, the attackers said that Twitch clients were stolen for mobile devices, desktop computers and site consoles. They also accessed “proprietary SDKs and internal AWS services used by Twitch,” other properties like IGDB, and CurseForge, a game developed in Unity called Vapeworld, Twitch’s internal tool for improving security. and creator payouts from 2019 to nowincluding those of the 50 highest-earning streamers on the platform.

As you can see in the tweet, among the 50 streamers with the highest income in this period are names known by the Spanish public such as those of Auronplay or Rubius, in addition to Ibai Llanos.

Those responsible, whose identity is still unknown, said that this publication is only the “part One” of a larger version and stated that the Twitch community is a “disgusting toxic cesspool”. Therefore, it is believed that the action could be related to the protest day that several streamers made last September 1 under the name #DayOffTwitch, warning about a recent outbreak of harassment in the form of “hate raids” aimed at marginalized creators. Although the hackers claim that this is only the beginning of a series of leaks, they have not confirmed if they will distribute all the content through the network.
