We are almost at the end of our course and we are going to deal with one of the fundamental parts, editing everything recorded to discard what we do not like, rearrange what we want to appear, and add rhythm, corrections and effects so that our video has a truly professional look

If in chapter 4 we talked about audiovisual language, before tackling editing it is convenient to take into account certain technical aspects related to digital video, because they will be present both in the cameras you use and in the settings of the editing itself, this is: resolution, format, framerate, and compression (codecs).

In addition, we will discuss the whole matter of the licenses for the use of material downloaded from the Internet and we will list a few banks of images, videos and sounds, many of them free, which will be great for you to enrich your videos.

9.2 – iMovie for Mac. Overview

iMovie for Mac is a free but very powerful program to take our first steps in video editing. We will do a fairly exhaustive review of its interface to know all its possibilities.

9.3.2 – Framing changes, transitions and inserts

We will now begin to get some of those visual resources that we have been talking about throughout the course. First of all we will learn to reframe a clip to give the impression that we have moved our camera.

We will also see how to apply transitions and which ones remain and which do NOT look good, and we will see how to add additional images that serve as inserts to energize our videos or ‘cover’ things that we do not want to appear.

9.3.3 – Subtitles, titles and headers

Another way to give dynamism or to ‘cover’ cuts is the use of subtitles or titles, and we will see how to do them in iMovie.

We will also take advantage of material downloaded from an image bank and the channel’s logo along with a background sound to create a header, a presentation of our channel.

9.3.4 – Color correction and export

We’re almost done with our video, but we’re going to color match between the various clips and make any final adjustments before we’re done.
