In the tenth class of the Vimeo course, we are going to learn about the options that the platform offers us to monetize our work and content.
Living from what we like to do is a dream that is within the reach of a few. But the Internet revolution offers us tools that allow us to carry out projects that, a few years ago, were unthinkable. Let alone make them come true from home.
We are going to know the options that Vimeo offers us, in order to be able to monetize, obtain an economic return, from our content uploaded to the platform. Let’s start!
Interesting right? We have seen another big difference between Vimeo and other platforms like YouTube, the monetization options it offers us.
If YouTube is a platform that relies on advertising, Vimeo goes for the most sophisticated remuneration. To do this, Vimeo over the years has become a kind of YouTube with Netflix. Where creators can upload their feature films, short films, documentaries or courses to the platform. While interested users can access the content by renting or purchasing the product.
The great thing about it is that we can combine both open and paid free content. Thus being able to gain visibility about what we know how to do, and what we can offer. And give added value to our On Demand platform.
In this class we have learned about the two ways that Vimeo offers, both On Demand (more focused on deferred content rental (VOD), and OTT, which allows us to create a business model more similar to a streaming platform, being able to offer both deferred and live content.
As homework, we will review all the concepts we have learned in this class. As many times as necessary. We will continue uploading videos, in different formats, as well as using some tools that we have seen in classes but have not touched personally yet. In short, find the way in which we can adapt the use of the tools that Vimeo offers us to our project.
