The Unix epoch is a specific date from which the seconds are counted, which results in a new measure of time, used by operating systems such as Unix or Linux, or some programming languages such as PHP.
Time in those operating systems is measured in seconds since January 1, 1970, at zero hours. This measure or value of time is also known as the Linux timestamp.
The Unix epoch (or in English Unix epoch) is then the space of time that began with the beginning of the year 1970 and continues until today.
