WhatsApp is now from Meta: this is the change that has already reached all apps

Facebook mobile apps have changed the ‘branding’, and now show that they belong to Meta, the new parent company that will offer all the services of the Internet giant.

Mark Zuckerberg surprised everyone in the past Facebook Connect 2021, announcing more than just a name change for the company; Facebook, the company, would now be called Meta, while the social network also called Facebook would take a backseat to the real bet of the company, the metaverse.

Of course, the next day nothing had changed: Facebook was still Facebook, and the new name only appeared in some press releases and documents; It makes sense, since apparently, the new name was a secret shared only between Zuckerberg and a few managers. Only with the passing of months and years will we notice the real changes promised by its CEO.

Everything indicates that the change to Meta has occurred earlier than expected; and in fact, and public domains used before by other companies. Another clue that the migration was a surprise is that the Facebook brand is still used to represent the company in its apps, and we’re only now starting to see changes.

Some users are already seeing the Meta name, replacing Facebook, in the apps that are part of its platform. In app stores, such as the Android Play Store and the iOS App Store, the name has been replaced with “Meta Platforms Inc.” as a developer. Likewise, all references to Facebook have been eliminated or reduced to their minimum expression; for example, Messenger, which was born as Facebook Messenger, now only shows that name once in the description.

When we open the apps, they no longer announce to the four winds that they are part of Facebook. The Meta logo now appears when we open WhatsApp and the rest of the apps (including the Facebook app, the social network). This fits with the rumors about which would be why Facebook has changed the name to Meta. According to the leaks, the employees of Instagram and other apps asked to disassociate themselves from Facebook, considering it a “toxic brand” for all the privacy scandals it has suffered in recent years.

So this is a ‘branding’ change, and the only difference will be the logo you see when you launch the apps; otherwise, everything works the same and as a test, it is not yet necessary to accept new terms of service, indicating that it is an aesthetic change rather than a functional one. At least for now.
