In the first class of the WP-CLI course we are going to review the index and we will see what a CLI or Command-line interface is and its history.

The idea of ​​the course is to start at the base and progress lesson by lesson, taking advantage of the knowledge from the previous lesson to consolidate the learning of the use of WordPress WP-CLI and develop ourselves with the tool.

We will start by seeing what a CLI is, and we will understand what benefits we have when using this tool in our project and how it makes it so special. We are going to see a little history and evolution of the different interfaces in the world of computing to have more context of what a command line is and how it has influenced software development. We will also see advantages and disadvantages of using or not using a CLI in our project as support. Let us begin!

Now, as homework, I encourage you to investigate information about the use of command lines in your operating system and about how to customize your terminal/console to make it beautiful in order to use it in a more friendly way in the course.

Think that at the end of the course we are going to end up building a plugin for WP-CLI and that implies that we will have to understand and know in depth how a CLI works in our operating system. But don’t worry because throughout the course we will explain everything necessary for anyone to use WP-CLI.
