Youtube launches a new tool to convert videos into Shorts – Marketing 4 Ecommerce – Your online marketing magazine for e-commerce

Just a year ago, YouTube an alternative to , which allows create and edit short videos of up to 60 seconds within the same YouTube application. In this way, the creators of this platform have an option to generate lighter content, compared to the usual videos on the platform: a new way of connecting with the more than 2,000 million users of this video platform, hand in hand of a format whose demand is growing more and more.

Now, Google’s social network has presented (already available on the YouTube app for iOS and Android) aimed at making it easier for them to create this type of content directly from their “classic” format videos. Thus, youtubers can convert up to 60 seconds of their own existing long-form YouTube videos and make them short using the same editing tools you know (text, timeline editor, filters, etc.).

According to Youtube, this update will allow creators to “breathe new life into your classic content and give you a new way to engage your audience.” As for the procedure, YouTube ensures that it is really simple: “If you select a part of your video that is less than 60 seconds long, you can record additional videos with the clip camera, as well as upload more videos from your gallery. To record or add a video from the gallery, you will need to press the back arrow once you are on the editing screen after choosing the video segment.

The shorts created from other videos will be linked with the original long-form videos so that those who see the short can also see the original video. Only original content creators will be able to import their long videos into Shorts, as this tool is not available for other creators to use on their content.
