Amazon Scout or when time flies: this is how the new delivery robot works – Marketing 4 Ecommerce – Your online marketing magazine for e-commerce

What is valid for today is not valid for tomorrow. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but the truth is that in the current digital ecosystem, change is permanent and fast until it exceeds the limits of assimilation.

Today I was about to write an article about Amazon Scout; I wanted to talk about an “old” feature that was released just 4 months ago (later I’ll tell you why it’s already old). as a simple platform based on recommendation of productsmainly decoration and furniture, which thanks to a system similar to that of Netflix that use the likes Y dislike of consumers to then recommend suitable products from artificial intelligence.

Today, 16 weeks later, it no longer exists, at least not with the same URLs, it is already outdated. Well, the truth is that who knows if it didn’t work for them or if it was just a test and in the coming days, weeks or months they will make the leap to more countries with a long-term project. But what we know for sure is that the marketplace most famous in the world has decided to use the same namewith its pages already indexed by the way, to present its new autonomous and robotic gadget named Amazon Scout.

At this point, I feel compelled to talk about this Amazon’s new bet that occupies the first pages of all the magazines of the sector. Amazon Scout aims to become the perfect delivery man: autonomous, ecological, efficient, safe, fast, economical and traceable. With this new initiative, which at the moment is only working as a test, they intend to solve one of the main headaches of any e-commerce: logistics.

The vehicle in question has a shape similar to a small refrigerator with visible wheels that, according to the same firm, works with electric batteries, circulates at low speed along the sidewalks and it is able to avoid pedestrians and possible collisions. According to the company, in less than 15 minutes a user can have their order delivered to their doorstep.

We will see if in the near future the happy scout prevails in our streets, but what is very clear is that Amazon continues to bet heavily on innovation and that everything changes and does so very quickly. The logistics landscape is going to evolve in the coming years at an unstoppable rate and perhaps it would be good for small and large entrepreneurs to take note of it so as not to be left behind and give opportunities to the competition. The digital future does not wait, it moves forward and does not look back.
