Asteo Red Neutra deploys fiber optics in 40,000 rural homes in Extremadura

The wholesale operator Asteo Red Neutra has deployed XGS-PON fiber optics, which supports speeds of up to 10 Gbps, in a total of 40,000 rural homes spread over 47 towns in Extremadura.

Specifically, the firm has connected 41 towns in the province of Cáceres and six in Badajoz with an average of 900 inhabitants, with the town of Santa Amalia, with 3,957 inhabitants, being the largest, according to a statement.

The company, backed by the investment fund Connecting Europe Broadband Fund, has deployments in Castilla y León and Extremadura, a region in which it plans to reach 60 towns and 65,000 homes with an investment of 14 million euros.
