Burger King launches Whopper Wine, a limited edition red wine

The Burger King restaurant chain has launched a limited edition of red wine, called ‘Whopper Wine’, to celebrate its 40th anniversary in Spain and Europe. This wine was born in homage to the company’s arrival in this country in 1975, when it had to offer this product on its menu to adapt to the local market, a circumstance that only occurred in Spain.

The wine has been made in Valencia with Tempranillo grapes and aged in French oak barrels that were previously treated in the heat of the fire from the company’s grills and which have housed the wine for a year.

This limited edition has been delivered to representatives of four essential sectors for the company over the years, which are franchisees, suppliers, the media and consumers, who will be able to enter the draw for 40 bottles through the Facebook channel. of the company.

It will open 50 more restaurants

Likewise, the company has announced that it plans to open more than 50 stores in Spain this year, which will create some 1,000 jobs, as explained by the director of Franchise Development for the company’s Mediterranean region, Theo Carmurça.

“Last year we have opened more than 50 stores and we hope to repeat this fact by opening more than 50 stores” during 2015, Camurça stated at the presentation of the limited edition of the red wine, and that the manager pointed out that Spain is a “market priority” for the restaurant chain, the “number three worldwide”, after the United States and Germany, he added.

As Camurça explained, the company has three main franchisees in Spain, Megafoods, Quick Meals Ibérica and KAM Consulting, which “generate a lot of employment, 20 to 30 employees per store”. For this reason, Camurça calculates that in Spain this year “more than a thousand new jobs” could be created, which are added to the “more than a thousand” generated by the company last year. In total, Burger King employs 18,000 people in Spain.

Currently, the company has more than 200 restaurants in the country that offer food delivery. “It is a platform that we are still developing,” Camurça stated, according to whom the company hopes to “stabilize everything” to “continue developing it.”
