Carrefour invoices 10,471 million in Spain in 2021, 4.6% more

Carrefour recorded a record turnover in Spain of 10,471 million in 2021 as a whole, which represents an increase of 4.6% compared to the sales data for 2020, when it also marked a sales milestone by exceeding for the first time in its history the level of 10,000 million, as reported on Wednesday by the company

With regard to sales, they have grown to reach 72,958 million, 3.2% more compared to the 70,720 million registered in 2020.

Spain is one of Carrefour’s main markets. The company highlights in the statement that together with France and Brazil it is the one that has grown the most in market share, specifically in Spain, the increase has been three points compared to 2020.

Recurring operating income in Europe in 2021 increased by 3.3% to €718 million, compared to €698 million in 2020. Operating margin increased 9 percentage points to 3.4%. These figures have been possible in large part to Spain, the company highlights in a statement that it is the market that has improved profitability the most. This is largely due to the acquisition of the Supersol stores.

Only in the fourth quarter of 2021, turnover in Spain reached 2,996 million euros, 7.2% more than between October and December 2020. In comparable terms and without taking into account fuel and calendar effects, the increase was of 1.6%.
