The Minister of Health of the Junta de Castilla y León, Verónica Casado, has assured this Monday that the Executive will maintain the criteria of closing the interior of hotel establishments in municipalities with more than 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants after the State of Alarm.
Casado has insisted on his concern about the end of the State of Alarm and the intention of the Government of Pedro Sánchez not to expand this situation despite the repeated request of some autonomies such as the Basque Country. In this way, he has defended that a State of Alarm by autonomies is not applied and that the measures that are adopted be done globally.
Casado recalled that with the end of the State of Alarm, the autonomies do not have the capacity to promote measures that limit mobility or freedom of movement, so that all decisions adopted in this regard must go through the courts. “It does not seem right to me that we have to prosecute the issue, it should be resolved by the Executive and the Legislative,” he said.
In the same way, he has insisted that the autonomies cannot make decisions that attack fundamental rights, such as limiting meetings at home.
However, if the situation experienced in the summer of 2020 is taken as an example, actions such as setting the closing hours of shops or catering establishments can be taken, always with legal reports that support it. “Everything we were able to do last summer can be done now,” said Casado, who clarified that the current incidence of cases is much higher than last summer.
Regarding the rest of the measures established in the traffic light that have been approved in the Interterritorial Council, the Minister has advanced that the legal services are now analyzing whether these actions also require judicial support.
Casado has defended that a single measure does not work by itself and that it is a set of measures through which social contact is limited, which leads to a reduction in the accumulated incidence. “We have always asked for a Pandemic Law that would allow us to go ahead with measures that have evidence in the international arena such as curfew or capacity control, we are concerned,” he has settled, reports Ep.
In this sense, he has insisted on the importance of having a package of measures, although he has insisted that “effective” measures will be maintained in Castilla y León, such as the closure of the interior of the hotel industry and betting houses in cases in which the incidence exceeds 150,000 per 100,000 inhabitants.

The update approved today covers 31 Castilian and Leonese municipalities: Arenas de San Pedro and Las Navas del Marqués (Ávila); Burgos, Alfoz de Quintanadueñas, Medina de Pomar and Miranda de Ebro (Burgos); León, Bembibre, San Andrés del Rabanedo, Valverde de la Virgen and Villablino (León); Aguilar de Campoo and Guardo (Palencia); Ciudad Rodrigo, Santa Marta de Tormes, Villamayor and Villares de la Reina (Salamanca); Segovia, Cantalejo, The Royal Site of San Ildefonso and Palazuelos de Eresma (Segovia); Soria and Almazán (Soria); and Aldeamayor de San Martín, Íscar, La Cistérniga, Laguna de Duero, Medina del Campo, Peñafiel and Simancas (Valladolid); and Benavente (Zamora).
