Coca-Cola launches its platform of sugar-free flavors in Spain with Intergalactic

Coca-Cola has launched Creations in Spain, a new global platform from which the brand will launch new limited edition flavors such as the new Intergalactic, which arrives exclusively in a Zero Sugar version.

Intergalactic is the first Creations launch and combines the flavor of Coca-Cola with an unexpected and disruptive touch with which the brand wants to surprise consumers, especially young people. In Spain it has been available since the first week of April in a 33cl Sleek can format, with a space-inspired design, through the Modern Food, Convenience and Universities channels.

Carolina Aransay, Marketing Director of Coca-Cola Iberia, points out: “The well-being of our consumers is a key axis in our Sustainability strategy. The arrival in Spain of Coca-Cola Creations hand in hand with Intergalactic reinforces our commitment to continue reducing sugar in our drinks, always innovating with products that adapt to their needs, never ceasing to surprise them”.

This launch consolidates Coca-Cola’s commitment to healthier eating throughout its portfolio: most of its latest launches in Spain were calorie-free or low-calorie; as well as through the way in which they connect with the consumer, putting their marketing at the service of the healthiest option: all brand communications always present Coca-Cola Zero Sugar as the reference variety.

As a result of this work, Coca-Cola in Spain has already achieved that in 2021 64% of its total sales volume corresponds to products with no or low calories. Coca-Cola thus leads a segment that, according to Nielsen figures, reached a 53% share of value last year, which represents a growth of 7% compared to the previous year and confirms its tendency to gain space on the shelves.

Coca-Cola is aligned with the commitments assumed by Unesda, the European Federation of Soft Drinks to which Anfabra belongs, and of which the company is a part. The commitment of the sector at a European level is to reduce sugar in soft drinks by an additional 10% by 2025, which will mean reaching 33% since 2000. An achievement that the soft drink sector in Spain has already achieved by manage to reduce the sugar in its drinks by 38% in the last 10 years.
