Deoleo appoints Ignacio Silva, former CEO of Schweppes, as Chairman

The Board of Directors has appointed Ignacio Silva Alcalde, former CEO of Schweppes until December 2018, as the new executive president of the company, replacing Miguel Ibarrola, alleging health reasons.

Until December 2018, Ignacio Silva was responsible for the business of the Japanese multinational soft drinks Suntory Schweppes, in southern Europe. He joined said company in 2011, occupying the position of CEO in Spain and Portugal every year; and five years later he added to his responsibilities the control of the countries Italy, Greece and Cyprus.

Aged 52, he has a degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona, ​​and postgraduate studies at the University of Siena and the IESE Business School. Deoleo has highlighted that “it has more than twenty-five years of experience in the consumer market and, in the same way, it has extensive experience in the world of associations, holding the vice-presidency of the Federation of Food and Beverage Industries (FIAB) for the year 2018”.

As head of Deoleo, according to the company, immersed in a serious financial crisis, “he will promote the company’s strategic plan focused on a firm commitment to quality associated with its emblematic brands, such as Koipe, Hojiblanca, Carbonell, Bertolli, Carapelli… leaders in the olive oil market in Spain, Italy or the United States; as well as integrating the value in all the chain, from the field to the distribution”.
