Extensions are additional text that is placed at the bottom of our ad. In addition to ad extensions, in Google Adwords you can combine it with

We are going to do a review to explain what are the main manual ad extensions in Google Adwords. We remember that Google Adwords also has some extensions that are automatically generated, but we will deal with these in another post.

1) Sitelink Extensions:

One of the easiest extensions to use is the sitelink extension. We will only have to add a landing page of our website and add a title with two descriptive lines. This extension is usually used to attract attention with promotions, shipments, links to product categories, etc… The result of using sitelink extensions is that if our ad appears at the top of the results, it will generate links in the bottom of this. An example can be seen very clearly in the following screenshot in which the extensions are marked in red.

2) Location extensions:

Location extensions allow you to add a line below your ad indicating the selected address. In order to use a certain location you must link your Google Adwords account with the Google MyBusiness account and select the address that you have specified in it. The main advantage of location extensions is the additional information about where your business is located, thus increasing the relevance of your ad for searches that have a local intent.

3) Call extensions:

The main use of this extension is that the phone number you are interested in displaying will be published in your ad. This apart from increasing the CTR to your ad, it also makes it easier for a person to contact you directly by phone. The main advice in this type of extension is to make sure that whenever that ad extension is displayed, there will be someone available to pick up the phone and attend to the potential client.

4) Application extension:

This extension is one hundred percent designed for advertisers who offer users the possibility of downloading their application. By means of a text link, the user will be offered the possibility of downloading the application that interests us from the store. Obviously, these applications are offered for mobile devices and tablets.

5) Review Extension:

It allows to publish directly in the ad a brief review that has been made about us in some media. This review is less used than the previous ones, but it can give spectacular results of increased CTR due to the differentiation it offers. In addition, the fact of offering a testimonial from a proven medium, possibly increases the most qualified visits that come to your website.

6) Callout Text Extensions:

These extensions add descriptive text to your ad so users can learn more about what you can offer them. It is quite similar to the extension of links to sites but the big difference is that the first ones do not have a link. In the image below, the highlighted text is “Free shipping – 24/7 customer service – Adjusted price”. As can be seen in the example, it is used to highlight the advantages of our product or service compared to that of the competition.

To use the manual extensions in your ads in Google Adwords, you can do it by following these steps:

1) If you already have the campaign created, click on it on the left side of your screen. You will see several tabs in the center of your screen, the last one (on the right) is called extensions. Click on it.

2) Press the “+ extension” button in red.

3) Select the type of extension you are interested in creating.

If you have not yet created your campaign, in the same process of creating it you can add your extensions right at the end of the main creation screen.
