Five technological tools that will revolutionize companies in 2018

Technology is advancing faster and faster and its evolution has a direct impact on the productivity of companies. Chatbots, artificial intelligence, the internet of things… are trends that have appeared in this field in recent times and have only just begun.

So much so that by 2030 it is expected that Integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistants will go far beyond what we know today, according to a study prepared by Dell Technologies. Chatbot Chocolate, an agency specializing in the creation of chatbots, has carried out an analysis to define which five technological trends will revolutionize the business world next year:

1. More and better bots

Everything indicates that bots will be the technology that will revolutionize 2018 and that is that most sectors will make the leap to chatbots in automatable tasks such as end customer service. There is no doubt that chats have become the main channel of communication for young and old alike. In fact, the VidaCaixa Retiree Portrait Barometer in Spain ensures that 70% of retirees use WhatsApp daily. What makes chatbots a very interesting channel for all ages.

2. Voice interface

Since the main messaging apps introduced the option to send voice messages, the use of audio messages has not stopped growing. This reality will also affect chatbots, which will begin to include this conversational functionality and will begin to understand the voice messages that users send throughout 2018. But this is not all. In the future we will prefer talking to writing and another example of this is voice assistants like Alexa Echo, Amazon’s voice assistant, which was one of the three best-selling products last Black Friday, according to figures from the company itself.

3. Artificial Intelligence

Its implementation is such that, according to a study prepared by IDC, in 2020 40% of Digital Transformation initiatives will be supported by cognitive technologies, Artificial Intelligence and robotics. And it is that this field does not stop evolving. “Currently, Artificial Intelligence engines have the possibility of capturing the feeling of whoever writes to us, that is, knowing if our client is angry and, based on this, making certain decisions,” says Ángel Hernández, partner at Chatbot Chocolate.

4. Internet of Things (IoT)

This concept refers to the process of linking everyday objects with the Internet, a process that allows household appliances to be connected to an online network thanks to which their functionalities can be managed. Today, many companies have already developed products that allow this linkage. Among them are Echo from Amazon or Google Home. The success of this type of system points to exponential growth. So much so that, in 2022, it is estimated that there will be more than 18,000 million IoT devices that will communicate with each other, according to a study carried out by the multinational Ericsson.

5.Blockchain

Beyond the well-known Bitcoin and Etherum, there is no doubt that the implication of the technology behind it -the blockchain- makes it possible to coordinate the information of millions of devices while ensuring an immutable and permanent record in areas broader than that of virtual currencies. In fact, to date, more than 1,500 million euros have already been invested in this sector.
