If the Ford Mustang is the quintessential American sports car, with 60 years on the market, the variants signed by Shelby represent the top of the Mustang range. Now that Ford is updating its sports car range, it is launching a ‘heritage’ version as a tribute to a model that has been setting the pace for Mustang racing since 1967.
It was in 1967 when the American businessman and racer Carrol Shelby developed a first model based on a Mustang for use in competition. And since then, Mustang and Shelby have been two names that have been united in an unprecedented sporting adventure.
This GT500 version developed by Ford Performance is also offered in the exclusive orange colour.
Reputed for transforming Ford Mustang models into dominant racing machines, Shelby launched the Mustang Shelby GT350 in 1967, a version equipped with a powerful nearly six-liter V8 engine. Later came the GT500, which was the first vehicle signed by Shleby in which the great racer felt comfortable. “The first real car I’m really proud of is the original Shelby GT500,” the legendary engineer went on to declare. Over the years, the Shelby GT500 has become legendary as the most powerful and advanced Mustang of all time. And so it has been for 55 years.
Paying homage to the original 1967 Shelby GT500 comes the new 2022 Limited Edition Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition, which is available in both coupe and convertible variants. This model will be finished in the classic Brittany Blue exterior paint, with two different exterior stripe options: Over-painted racing stripes with exclusive GT500 logo, or racing stripes with a vinyl band on the sides.

Ford Performance
Designed and built by Ford Performance, the car is positioned as the most powerful road-legal Ford ever built, the 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500. In addition to its powerful V8 engine, it features a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for to be able to combine a smoother and more pleasant use with a use on a circuit at race pace.
Orders for the 2022 Shelby GT500 models begin today, but the first deliveries of this more collector-oriented variant will be in the spring. The 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 has a starting price in the United States of $72,900, to which must be added another $1,195 for transportation. The Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition package is available for an additional $2,140, while the GT500 Heritage Edition package, with hand-painted stripes, is an extra $12,140.
The Mustang family also expands its special edition offering for the 2022 model year with the Coastal Limited Edition series available on the 310-hp EcoBoost Premium Mustang. A variant also available with both bodies. This model, which embodies the legendary freedom of movement of the Mustang since its launch, is a vehicle that uses the 4-cylinder turbocharged ecoboost engine that provides 310 horsepower. This model has a starting price of $32,225 in the North American market.
