The carrier strike creates clashes in Extremadura

The government delegate, Yolanda García Seco, recognizes the right to demonstrate, but the right to strike must not harm anyone or “kidnapping a country.”

Pharmaceutical transport has been one of the most attacked during the days of the transport strike, the information pickets have allegedly attacked several trucks that were destined to cover the medical needs of Extremadurans.

A protest that was born with harsh internal confrontations, since the regional employers’ association has never positioned itself in favor of it. Asemtraex (Association of Transport Entrepreneurs of Extremadura) is one of the sector representatives and has disassociated itself from this strike.

Since last Monday, the Delegation has been urgently responding to calls from numerous companies requesting help and escort in order to supply the markets and needs of the population.

meetings

The Government Delegation in Extremadura held a meeting between the delegate, Yolanda García Seco and the Government sub-delegate in Badajoz, Francisco Mendoza, with representatives of various sectors affected by the protest that a minority group from the sector has been carrying out since last Monday of transport and incidents derived from it. The meeting was also attended by the president of the Junta de Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara.

Since the 14th, the Government Delegation has been responding to the calls and concerns of numerous companies, which have encountered problems in transporting their products and supplying the markets, guaranteeing them, through convoys and the escort of the Security Forces and Bodies , the development of their work and the arrival of merchandise and products at their destinations, thus avoiding massive shortages.

The Government Delegate has condemned the events at the hands of “a minority of carriers and people who are joining the protest who, through violence, coercion and undemocratic attitudes, are trying to paralyze economic activity, the supply of products essentials and sow terror in the work of citizens”.

He stressed that “they have collected the concerns of the affected companies and they are companies from all sectors,” declared the delegate, who explained that these days, the action of the pickets has prevented the arrival of pharmaceutical products at pharmacies; the arrival of food to supermarkets; the collection of agricultural or livestock farms or the transport of raw materials for the manufacture of feed and their delivery to the farms. “Industries are stopping because they do not have raw materials and workers cannot go to work because their companies are going to have to close, some have already done so, because a group of people has decided to hijack our economy.”

García Seco said that these are small but highly organized and violent groups that “have broken truck windows, cracked wheels and brakes, endangering the safety of truckers who have decided to work freely,” many of whom said, They are integrated into representative associations and are negotiating improvements to their employment situation with the competent ministry, improvements that, as he recalled, have already been largely addressed.

The government delegate recognized the right of this group to protest, since “they have every right and reason to be concerned, but in no way do they have the right to hijack a country, its economy and harm all citizens indiscriminately, using the violence”.

Supply

Pharmaceutical transport has been one of the most attacked, although according to the Minister of Health, José María Vergeles, at no time has the strike in the transport sector that began at the beginning of this week affected the operation of any hospital, nor to the supply of medicines.

When asked by the media about it at an event in Badajoz, Vergeles referred to a “problem” in pharmaceutical distribution, alluding to the trucks in the sector that have suffered damage from the pickets, although a Once the stock of medicines has been checked, there have been no incidents in their supply.

The institutions show their respect for the rise in prices that they are suffering due to a “major energy crisis”, so it is understandable that they protest even though “reason is lost when aggressiveness is used”, and that in no case is it “justified the use of violence”, while stressing the need to have a series of “basic elements to be able to live.
