Google buys Anvato to improve its video services in the Cloud – Marketing 4 Ecommerce – Your online marketing magazine for e-commerce

Google has acquired Anvato, an 8-year-old video platform that automates the encoding, editing, publishing and secure distribution of videos across different platforms. What Anvato offers is a cloud service for publishing and monetizing videos to those who did not want to pass YouTube’s filters, until now being one of the main competitors of Google’s video platform.

What will Google do with Anvato?

The Anvato is going to become part of the Google Cloud division to “enable workflow and media processing in the cloud, . They further add that “With the rapid adoption of OverTheTop (OTT) technologies accelerating rapidly, the Cloud Platform and Anvato teams will work together to deliver Cloud solutions that help companies in the media and entertainment industry scale their video infrastructure efforts and deliver high-quality, live video and on-demand content to consumers on any device, whether it’s their smartphone, tablet or connected TV.”

It will not be integrated, at least in principle, into YouTube, but as we have said will be part of the Google Cloud Platform team so that Google can strengthen its services with regard to the deployment of video on the network.

Large corporate clients such as Bravo, Fox Sports, CBS, Univision, MSNBC or others could easily develop, refine and distribute online video across different platforms and websites without having to pass Youtube filters. Now they will be able to do it but already belonging to the service also to Google, waiting for news about it. I know do not know the terms of the agreement so we don’t know how much Google has paid for Anvato, although we do know that so far the company had raised $2.5 million in two rounds of funding.

Google’s insatiable appetite

Google is shopping, as it has now been Anvato, but very recently. It wants to improve many of its services, and its cloud division will be one of the beneficiaries of this, since it will be able to manage its cloud infrastructure much better, giving greater facilities to its clients and providing a better service to outperform its competitors.

From Google they have announced that news is expected in the coming months, so we can only wait to find out what awaits us after the acquisition of Anvato by Google.
