Google Tag Manager Advanced Course #8. Implement Google Consent mode with GTM – .com

In the eighth class of the advanced Google Tag Manager course we delve into the implementation of Google Consent Mode.

One of the problems that the measurement and marketing consent regulations that we have seen in the previous class bring with them is that, once they are implemented, we are going to lose information from users who do not allow this measurement, with the consequent information deterioration.

To try to minimize it, Google has created what it has come to call Consent Mode, which is a way of obtaining, anonymously, basic information on those visits that do not consent to traditional measurement, based mainly on cookies. Let’s see it!

We already have it! As it could not be otherwise, Google Tag Manager has its procedure for, once the tracking and marketing tags have been adapted to the GDPR, to be able to give that new twist thinking about what has come to be called a cookieless scenario.

Thanks to Google Consent Mode we will be able to have more data than before and do without certain blocks on the labels. You will have noticed that in the case of Google Analytics this new mode adds a new parameter to define the consents granted and act accordingly, it is the gsc parameter.

Although Google still defines Consent Mode as beta, it is not a bad idea to implement this solution, we will be able to obtain information for the future and teach the machine for when the time comes when, like Skynet, it becomes aware.
