With the new electricity tariff, the price of electricity changes throughout the day and is implying in families a reorganization of domestic activity and household spending. Thus, it is a good time to assess other energy sources such as solar self-consumption, one of the most profitable options, especially in Spain, one of the countries with the most hours of sunshine per year. This type of clean and sustainable energy allows savings of up to 50% on the electricity bill.
According to the latest report published by the Spanish Photovoltaic Union, Spain was the leading market in the photovoltaic sector at European level in 2019. The ground plants contributed 4,201 megawatts (MW), while self-consumption 459 MW. But since the elimination of the sun tax in 2019, the data has continued to grow: on March 14, 2021, solar energy in Spain reached a new record with an instantaneous generation of 7,898 MW in the Iberian Peninsula, which represents almost the 30% of all electricity demand, according to data provided by Red Eléctrica.
In the same vein, the report Services for home care and maintenance: the key to building customer loyalty, published by HomeServe, a company specializing in solutions for home care and maintenance, explains that 42% of Spaniards plan to install new solar panels on your home.
How much does solar panel installation cost?
A study published by the Idealista portal reveals that the installation of solar panels on the roofs of all the first homes in Spain would save more than 115,000 million in the next 25 years. Installing photovoltaic panels means having your own energy at the times of the day with the most sun, which mostly coincide with the peak or intermediate hour periods of the new electricity bill.
In Spain, an installation of solar panels requires an average of 10 modules, which could mean an initial investment of around 4,000 euros, which would translate into savings on electricity bills of up to 50%. In a home with average consumption, this would imply an amortization of the investment in 8 years, taking into account that the solar panels have a useful life of 25 years.
Tax benefits are other advantages of installing plates. Owners can benefit from personal income tax deductions; of a reduction of the IBI in certain municipalities where it is discounted at 50% in order to promote green energy for a period of up to 5 years; or up to 95% of the tax on constructions, installations and works.
What to know before installing a solar panel
Before taking the step to install electric solar panels in the home, certain circumstances must be taken into account to obtain greater performance:
– Favorable domestic conditions. The roof where the panels are installed must be free of shadows, facing south and have a surface area of at least 40m2.
– Harness the production of solar energy. The period of greatest photovoltaic generation is from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., so you have to take advantage of the light consumption during that time frame.
– Have an expert company for installation and maintenance. Turning to an expert company that can advise you and carry out a correct installation is key. In addition, good periodic maintenance of the solar panels will increase their performance and prolong the useful life of the installation.
