How to combat the side effects of the Janssen, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccine

The Spanish vaccination strategy is reaching the largest age groups in our vaccination pyramid, . Thus, it is good to remember which side effects are the most common and how they should be combated.

What side effects does the Moderna vaccine have?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that they usually appear within a day or two after getting vaccinated. They can resemble flu symptoms and may even affect your ability to do daily activities, but should go away within a few days. The most common are:

1. Side effects at the injection site: pain, swelling, and redness.

2. Side effects on the body: chills, tiredness, and head odor. In addition, from the US it also includes other adverse reactions such as fever, nausea, vomiting and joint and muscle pain.

What are the side effects of the Pfizer vaccine?

What are the side effects of the Janssen vaccine?

Until April 25, 2021, a total of 7,768 doses of the Janssen vaccine against Covid-19 were administered in Spain. Regarding the rest of the approved vaccines, the administration has not made a specific recommendation. However, for local side effects, apply a clean, cool, damp cloth to the area and exercise the arm. And regarding general adverse reactions, they can be combated with medications such as ibuprofen, antihistamines or acetaminophen. However, the CDC makes it clear that they should be taken under a doctor’s prescription.
