How to integrate the group purchase option in your eCommerce with Beecial – Marketing 4 Ecommerce – Your online marketing magazine for e-commerce

is software that reduces customer acquisition costs through group selling. The platform was born in 2022 with the aim of offering integration to eCommerce for the creation and management of collaborative purchases. To find out a little more about collaborative purchases (or joint purchases) and about this tool, we have interviewed Jordi Carulla (Lleida, 1980), CTO & Cofounder of Beecial.

Hello Jordi, tell us, how did the idea of creating Beecial come about?

Beecial arises from a joint initiative of and Aurorial, its investment vehicle. Several profiles were selected to create projects that solve problems that they had found and of which they couldn’t find a solution in the market. They let us choose the idea that could best fit us and after a process of selection, analysis, and presentation in the form of pitchthey selected our project to launch it.

At what point are you now?

Now we are with the MVP validated and looking for eCommerces interested in promoting their products on our platform. We have carried out the first joint ventures with , now we want to try other products, we already have several eCinterested commerce and shortly (3-6 weeks) we will start launching promotions.

What are joint purchases?

It’s such a simple idea bring together many (or several) people interested in the same product to buy in volume and get better prices. This simple idea has the problem that it is not scalable since it consumes a lot of resources for each promotion. But it becomes scalable when it is turned around and it is the eCommerces themselves that promote their products through joint purchases.

Joint purchasing is a trend coming from China, what attracted you to this system and why did you decide to bring it to Spain?

In fact, that was not how it happened. They presented us with the idea, we liked it… and after studying the market and the possible competition we saw that there were similar models in China. That’s good, because it indicates that on other sites it’s working and it can work here too. Added to this, we all know examples of joint purchases executed in forums or communities and that have worked. We wanted to replicate that model by giving eCommerce more prominence.

How does the platform work?

First, eCommerces look for products in their catalog that can be adapted, due to margin and possibility of stock, to this business model. Once they have a product that suits them, they create the promotion and it automatically appears a button so that users can sign up for the promotion. That button is both in eCommerce and on our own website.

We, for our part, advertise these promotions to attract users and encourage the buyers themselves to share the promotions in order to reach the target as soon as possible.

Once it arrives, payments are generated and orders are passed to eCommerce. If the goal is not reached, the payment authorization is canceled and nothing has happened here. eCommerce does not have to do anything. We focus on two pillars, ease for the store when creating joint offers and security for the user that they will have the product at a very good price without risking their money.

What would the integration of a group purchase option in an eCommerce with Beecial look like?

We mainly have 2 parts.

The first, the button to sign up for the promotion, which is just pasting 3 lines of code on the page. Either directly in the code or through Google Tag Manager.

The second is the download orders. We have an API through which orders can be consulted and very soon, we will have plugins for the main ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, Prestashop, Magento, etc.

On the main platforms it can be assembled in a day. If they are their own platforms, it will depend on each one, but the process is quite simple.

What benefits would it bring to companies?

Traffic, apart from sales, which is something obvious, the fact that it is the users themselves who help spread and promote the offer, added to the promotion we do with our newsletters, through micro and advertising on different platforms , we managed to attract new visitors and users. The important thing for eCommerce is to get those visits and that customer to get their loyalty. With Beecial you have a different way of capturing, with the ability to go viral, in an ecosystem in which it is increasingly difficult to attract attention among so much competition. In the end, this reduces the much-feared acquisition cost.

What are Beecial’s clients like? and users of joint purchases?

Our clients are the eCommerces, we want them to sell for us to win too. That’s why they We advise and help throughout the process.

The user of the joints could be the “offer seeker”. That person who is always looking for coupons and bargains. But it can also be anyone who is going to buy a specific product or who receives our offer referred by someone they know and is interested.

What kind of products can we find in Beecial?

We are now closing deals and promoting the platform to have as many promotions as possible. Among the companies with which we are negotiating, there are from electronics, household appliances, sports equipment to fashion and footwear, perfumes and even food. But the idea is that any eCommerce that wants to use our platform can promote their products.

In what average time do you think it will be possible to reach a goal to complete the transaction?

The promotions are limited to 7 days. With as much as this is how long it will take to complete the joint purchase. If the offer is good and there is a lot of sharing, the joint venture will close in much less time.

Once the number of people interested in a product is reached, how long does the process take until its delivery?

If it is closed before 7 days because the desired people have been reached, the process is automatic and is like a normal order. It takes the same time to arrive as any order made to the eCommerce where the purchase was made. Normally between 1 and 2 days.

How do you think the trend of joint purchases in Spain will evolve in the coming years?

Well, we hope to gain a foothold in the market and get more and more new customers interested in this business model. Being something new, we believe that it will arouse interest and competition will also arise. In a period of 1 or 2 years we hope to have grown enough to become a benchmark and be ready to go to other countries.

What headline about Beecial would you like to read on Marketing4eCommerce in a couple of years?

“Beecial closes an investment round of 1.4 million euros to finance its internationalization”, for example. That would be very nice. But it doesn’t take away our sleep, we want to create the best possible product for both stores and users And that’s what we’re focused on right now. We understand that the only way to make something work is win-win. Although in this case, they must win three parts instead of two.
